Our original plan was to rise early on Wednesday, then drive from Houston to San Antonio along I-10. Since the Suburban had been overheating enroute from College Station to Houston to pick up the Buhler boys and Rhonda at airports the previous day, we drove from Houston to College Station first, where we left the Suburban and drove Gary's Lincoln to San Antonio instead.
We arrived in San Antonio and checked into the Alamo Square Residence Inn around 3:30 p.m. We toured the Alamo until it closed at 5:00 p.m., then walked across the street to the RiverCenter Mall to watch the IMAX presentation about the Battle of the Alamo. We spent the remainder of that evening walking along the river, eating dinner at Casa Rio and riding the famous River Taxis. Before returning to our hotel, we each chose a pint of Blue Bell ice cream at CVS. This was a long but very fun day!
