Erin is admitted to the hospital at 6:00 am on July 18. She has been experiencing regular contractions during much of the previous week. Madisen, Erin's firstborn, was delivered by C-Section, so the doctor administers minimal doses of Pitocin. Labor progresses at a snail's pace throughout most of the day. However by evening, Erin moves from labor into the delivery stage. Family members -- including Grandpa Millett, Rhonda, Kristen, the Buhler boys, Maddie and Andi Empey -- gather in the maternity waiting area of the Utah Regional Medical Center.
Gorgeous Baby Leah makes her debut appearance around 8:45! She is taken to NICU for several hours as a precaution. Kristen and boys, who are flying home early the next morning, want to see Leah so badly. They decide to wait. The nursery staff is slow moving Leah from the NICU to the regular nursery, but the Buhlers are committed to seeing Leah. In the wee morning hours, we finally get our first glimpse of beautiful little Leah. Kristen says she is well worth the wait!
Grandpa Gary flies into Salt Lake on July 20, while Erin and Leah are still in the hospital. We stop downtown for breakfast, then take Maddie to Temple Square. She loves looking at The Christus. After eating at The Nauvoo Cafe in the Joseph Smith Building, Maddie asks to return to see Jesus again. We oblige!
Of course, Grandpa Gary falls in love with Leah immediately. Excellent work, Erin and Spencer!
