THANKSGIVING WEEK IN COLLEGE STATION: November 24-28, 2013

Frisco ISD schools get a full week off for Thanksgiving (lucky Buhler boys)!  Kristen and Aaron are planning to make the 3 1/2-hour drive from Frisco to College Station on Tuesday, November 26th, but Mother Nature has her own ideas.  Ice storms are forecast for the Dallas Metroplex over the beginning of Thanksgiving week, so Aaron, Kristen and boys hit the road on Sunday, November 24th.  How fun to enjoy their company for the full week!

We know there is an entertainment deficit in our home.  We have no Wii (or any video game system), no WiFi, no Netflix...  Aaron brings us a WiFi router which he installs in our computer room, first thing.  Now we're in business!  Our grandsons can now play games on their iPods and Aaron can work from our upstairs office.  We also install a Netgear box, which allows us to receive Netflix, YouTube and a host of other goodies.  Now, Grandma's house is much more grandchild friendly!  We even play some old boardgames, which our grandsons find hilariously ancient, yet fun.

Thanksgiving Dinner in College Station, Texas: November 28, 2013

Kristen is a huge help as I attempt to prepare Thanksgiving dinner in my own home for the first time in many years.  Our last three Thanksgivings were spent in Galveston, San Antonio and Provo.  I'm hoping to rise to this occasion.  With Kristen's help, our meal turns out great.  Kristen makes such beautiful pies! There is one glitch, courtesy of Rhonda.  While intending to double the roll recipe, I make a single batch.  Que Sera.  We're leaving for Galveston soon, so won't be home to eat turkey leftovers anyway.  :-/

Gary and I love the Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens.  We are so excited to share this event with the Buhlers.  We caravan to Kemah on Friday morning, stopping at the SpringHill Suites to check into our rooms, where we eat leftover turkey on rolls, Waldorf Salad, veggie sticks, chips and cookies.  Then it's off to Galveston!

Hey, the Buhlers Live in Texas Now -- Not Florida!

Chilly Night at Moody Gardens

When Kyle and Parker visited us in August 2010, we spent a few days in Houston.  We stopped to eat at Kemah's Aquarium Restaurant on a Sunday afternoon.  We also walked along the boardwalk but did not go on any rides, since it was Sunday.  Time to make amends on this Saturday, November 30, 2013.  The boys go on all the rides as many times as they want.  The morning starts out chilly, but is pleasantly warm by afternoon.

The TEXAS Buhlers

After leaving Kemah Boardwalk, we eat lunch at Chick-Fil-A, then head back to College Station (a 2 1/2-hour drive).  The Buhlers spend Saturday night at our home, then leave for Frisco on Sunday morning.  It's been a great week!  We love you guys so much!!  We couldn't be more happy that you're back in TEXAS, WHERE YOU BELONG!
