Early on Saturday morning, June 20th, Gary, Rhonda and the Dyal kids set up lawn chairs and a blanket along the curb of Ford Road just in front of Kohl's, where we waited for Canton's annual parade celebrating American Independence (but held well before July 4th) to begin. We passed the pre-parade time eating potato chips and drinking soda pop. We followed Julie's suggestion to bring a plastic grocery bag for each child to use to collect parade candy. This proved very wise, as nearly every group participating in the parade threw buckets and buckets of candy to onlooking children. Logan really got into the candy-chasing groove. He often followed the flow of candy well up the road. At first he was confused, but soon learned to easily find his way back to us! The chips, pop and candy took their toll on Alex. He grew sick to his stomach, stopped chasing candy, and spent the last half of the parade reclining in a lawn chair near the back of the blanket. Poor guy. However, Alex soon felt well enough to go to Chuck E. Cheese for an afternoon of pizza and games. This was a fun day!
