THANKSGIVING IN SAN ANTONIO: November 23-26, 2011

We often travel outside Texas to spend Thanksgiving with our children. Since we recently visited four of our kids and will visit the fifth over Christmas and New Years, we decide to spend Thanksgiving in San Antonio. We book a room at SpringHill Suites, make Thanksgiving buffet dinner reservations at a restaurant in the Rivercenter Marriott, reserve seats for the Christmas River Parade and look forward to a relaxing holiday weekend.

As it turns out, the weather is great, the food is fair, the parade is festive, the people are friendly, the lights along the Riverwalk (1.2 million of them) are gorgeous and we have a wonderful time (even though A&M loses possibly their last football game with Texas)! We highly recommend Thanksgiving in San Antonio to empty nesters who need a great weekend getaway. (We are somewhat disappointed with the Marriott buffet, so return home to fix our own Thanksgiving feast on Sunday with the sister missionaries as guests.)
