Thursday, May 27, 2010: Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman

Our excursion in the port of Georgetown, Grand Cayman was to world-renowned Seven Mile Beach. Rhonda read in several travel books that Seven Mile Beach is perhaps the best beach in the Caribbean and one of the best in the world. The water is so crystal clear that we watched fish swim past as we were sitting in the waist-deep water! Julie and Kristen negotiated a good deal on jet ski rentals, so enjoyed thirty minutes skimming the coastal waters. We had to be wary of the strong sun on this clear day, as several of us were beginning to burn. Kimberly eventually sought shelter at a covered seaside cafe while slowly nursing a small soda. We highly recommend this beautiful beach. (The Sears technician who repaired our dryer yesterday goes repeatedly to the Caymans to scuba in some of the world's greatest reefs.) That evening, we cleaned up nicely for the second formal night of the cruise.
