Wednesday, May 26, 2010: Dunn's River Falls, Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Jamaica is a surprisingly mountainous, lushly-vegetated island. Before arriving at famous Dunn's River Falls, our tour bus drove through the jungle area known as Fern Gully. This dense tropical rain forest should have been our clue that this coast of Jamaica receives very heavy (probably daily) amounts of rainfall! Ron and Rhonda were spectators on viewing platforms along Dunn's River Falls, while Gary W., Julie, Kristen, Kimberly, Gary M. and Erin executed the watery hike from the mouth of the river (at Shaw Beach) upward along the slippery rocks to the very top of the falls! The last twenty minutes of the hike were completed during a literal cloudburst. Ron and Rhonda attempted to reach the bus before getting wet, but the bus was locked up tight. Ron and Rhonda became as drenched as those family members who actually hiked up the falls! Fun memories!!
