The weather in Provo late last November was too cold for Maddie to play outside, so we often went shopping at local malls. Maddie enjoyed our walks through the malls, with beautiful displays of Christmas lights all around. While at the mall, Maddie and Grandma would usually stop to visit Santa Claus. At first Maddie was afraid of Santa, but after a few visits, she sat willingly on Santa's lap. (I think she finally remembered that he gave out lollipops.) We visited Santa twice at University Mall. We also stopped to visit Santa twice at the Provo Towne Centre Mall.
One day we shopped for a dress coat for Maddie. We sent cell phone pictures from Macy's dressing room to Maddie's mom, who helped us choose the perfect coat. Maddie also chose a cute puppy at Build-A-Bear. When we shopped at Sam's, Maddie selected a soft story book complete with cute farm animals in a zip-up barn.
Eventually, these shopping trips led to the mall food court, where we grabbed a snack or lunch. Gary M. met us at the mall for lunch on several occasions. I will always treasure these memories of fun times with sweet Baby Maddie. Thank you for trusting me with her care, Spencer and Erin!
