Gary and Rhonda were excited to spend Thanksgiving 2009 with Rhonda's father, Ron Millett, their son Gary M., their daughter Erin, her husband Spencer and their 17-month-old granddaughter Maddie. Everyone had a blast--eating, watching football, eating, playing games, eating, going to movies, eating, shopping at the mall, eating at the food court, eating at Brick Oven, eating at In & Out Burger, eating at Arctic Circle... Maddie was the life of our Thanksgiving party. She kept everyone laughing and well entertained with her cute personality and penchant for performing!
Maddie warmed quickly to the two virtual strangers who were her grandparents. The last time we had been together was during Texas A&M's spring break in March, eight months ago. But Maddie makes friends very easily, so was comfortable with us in no time.
Since becoming empty nesters, Gary and Rhonda have spent Thanksgivings at the homes of their married daughters. This was the first turkey dinner supervised by Rhonda in several years. Thankfully, Erin and Spencer pitched in and offered plenty of help. Erin made the pies, apple crisp and the green bean casserole. Spencer oversaw the mashed potatoes. Our Thanksgiving dinner turned out beautifully with enough leftover food for several more meals.
Thanks, Dad, for letting us land at your home, take over your kitchen and for sharing the grocery bills! We love you!
